Our Approach
LEAD promotes community-led and evidence-based approaches that place affected populations at the center of all interventions. The organization believes that sustainable development and humanitarian action can only succeed when communities actively participate in identifying their priorities, designing solutions, and monitoring implementation processes.
As a homegrown organization, LEAD possesses a strong understanding of local contexts, social dynamics, cultural realities, and protection concerns affecting communities in South Sudan. This contextual understanding enables the organization to design interventions that are responsive, conflict-sensitive, gender-responsive, and sustainable.
LEAD prioritizes strengthening local systems, promoting self-reliance, and building resilience through integrated programming that addresses both immediate humanitarian needs and long-term recovery challenges.
The organization works closely with community leaders, women groups, youth networks, religious institutions, local authorities, and civil society actors to promote ownership, accountability, and sustainability.
The organization recognizes and aligns its work with key international and national frameworks including UNSCR 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, UNSCR 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security, CEDAW, the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the South Sudan National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security, Sustainable Development Goals, and international conventions on the protection of children, refugees, internally displaced persons, persons with disabilities, and marginalized populations.
